Camber Sands

2½ miles long and ½ wide at low tide, it is reputed to be the finest sandy beach in the South-East. This large and open stretch of sand attracts a variety of people from traditional summer beach users through to horse riders, kite surfers, kite buggying, windsurfing etc. The surrounding natural landscape is of international significance for its wildlife (both flora and fauna), and the designations for the Camber area includes an SSSI (sites of special scientific interest), it is included in the proposed Pett Level to Dungeness SPA (special protected area) and RAMSAR (designated under the international convention on wetlands of international importance especially as waterfowl habitat (the RAMSAR convention) site and SNCI (site of nature conservation importance) respectively.
