Art at The Place

The Place Camber Sands is delighted to announce an exhibition of photographs by Gerry Gavigan.

Gerry, during his long career as a first assistant director, has travelled to more than 50 countries working on films as diverse as Star Wars, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Tomb Raider, Enemy at the Gate, eight James Bond films, the epic, Troy and Valkyrie.

In contrast to the high pressure world of big budget films, Gerry’s great love is for stills photography and in recent years he has concentrated increasingly on landscape pictures of Britain. Gerry says, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to show a selection of my south coast landscapes together with the ‘Brits on the Beach’ series in the contemporary setting of The Place Camber Sands.

‘Brits on the Beach’ has been featured in Sussex Life magazine and Gerry is a regular contributor to Outdoor Photography magazine. His view of Chanctonbury Ring (number 7 in the exhibition catalogue) has been shortlisted in the Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition 2007, fronted by Calumet and Light and Land.

The exhibition runs until 30 April 2008 and The Place Camber Sands is open for morning coffee, lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
